This Roman denarius features on its obverse the head of Roma, the goddess and personification of Rome. Behind her head is as mint control mark a modius depicted, a grain bushel. Under the goddess's chin stands the indication of value, X for 10 asses.
The reverse depicts Victoria, the goddess of victory, driving a two-horse chariot called a biga. Below are two big ears of grain and the inscription M – MAR – C for the moneyer Marcus Marcius, as well as the word ROMA.
