German Empire, Wilhelm II, 1000 Reichsmark 1910

For most Germans, 1,000 mark were an astronomical amount of money at the beginning of the 20th century. A good number of them supposedly never lay hands on such a bill – not to mention of spending it. Around 1910, a diner with a beer cost about 70 pfennigs. The average salary of a full time worker at that time amounted to about 1,000 marks – per year.
