Russian Empire, Nicholas II, 5 Rubles 1903

In 1745, a gold deposit was discovered in northwestern Siberia. The deposit was by far not big enough to meet the needs of the Russian Empire. But all the same a few years later, gold coins of 5 and 10 rubles emerged (the poluimperial and the imperial). Since that time, the production of gold coins for circulation was continuous and stable under all Russian rulers. This piece depicts Tsar Nicholas II (1894-1917), the last tsar of Russian history.
