Swiss Confederation, 5 Francs 1963

Swiss Mint also makes commemoration coins. As from 1936, they are issued occasionally; since 1974 they are released annually. Until 1991 these coins were pieces of 5 francs that complied with the current 5-francs coins and were thus legal tender – even though they were rarely found in monetary circulation. This coin to commemorate the centenary of the Red Cross is such a piece.
