Republic of France, 10 Centimes 1997

Marianne is the symbol of republican France since the declaration of the first French Republic in 1792. Like on this coin, she often appears with a freedom hat. Her bust embellishes most French city halls, her statue stands on many of the country's squares, and of course she represents the French nation on postage stamps and coins. The French euro coins show a 'nouvelle Marianne,' Marianne in a new design.
