Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Ruble 1924

The revolution of 1917 changed Russia thoroughly, but the monetary system was left untouched. Only the alloy and the design of the coins changed. In 1924, the last silver rubles were minted. On their obverse, they bore the emblem of the Communist party, surrounded by a wrath of ears. On the reverse, a young revolutionary shows an old peasant the future of a new, industrialized Russia.
