Swiss Confederation, 500 Francs (5th Banknote Series, in Circulation 1956-1980)

The Fountain of Youth stands as an image for the remarkable ability of men, to draw hope even after the greatest catastrophes. Pierre Gauchat, who designed his banknotes a few years after World War II, indicated this mutability brilliantly: aridity and age on the one side, bloom and adolescence on the other. Two rabbits on the right side even indicate new fertility.
