The Barons Schauenstein of Reichenau issued coins only during three decades, from 1718 to 1748. These coins always bore the crest of Schauenstein with the three trouts.
This piece shows the value D – 2 for 2 deniers (2 pfennigs) to the left and to the right of the trouts. The reverse additionally bears the value 1/2 kreuzer, which corresponded to the double pfennig.
On used pieces like ours, this mark is often not recognizable any more, since it sat on the convex side of the coin and thus got worn off.
