German Empire, Weimar Republic, 5 Reichsmark 1932

In 1932, the 5-reichsmark piece with the oak tree was minted for the last time in large quantities. In that same year, internal intrigues brought down the government of Chancellor Heinrich BrĂ¼ning. The Reichstag was dissolved, and the ban on Adolf Hitler's paramilitary organisations, the SS and the SA, was lifted. The ensuing state of virtual civil war provided the pretext for the takeover of power by the Nazis.
