Republic of South Africa, Jubilee-Medal 1910-1960

In the 19th century, diamonds and of gold were discovered in the South African colonies of the Boers. This enhanced the economic importance of those republics to the Brits. From 1899 to 1902, they conquered the Boer States, and in 1910, the Cape Colony and the republics Natalia, Orange Free State and Transvaal were united to the Union of South Africa. This medal was issued in 1960 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Union.
