Roman Empire, Constantine for his Wive Fausta, Bronze Coin

Flavia Fausta was engaged to Constantine (307-337) at the age of about ten. The reverse of this bronze coin shows her with two of her children in her arms. With this she had fullfilled her mission to which this coin refers: Flavia Fausta guaranteed the survival of the Roman Empire by giving birth to two potential successors to Constantine. This is what the inscription SALVS REI PVBLICAE, welfare or the state, means.
