Swiss Confederation, 1,000 Francs (2nd Banknote Series, in Circulation 1911-1980)

The image of a casting house on this 1,000-franc note stems from Eugène Burnand, who also illustrated the 500-franc note. Iron casting was a symbol of Swiss industry, while the Appenzell stitchery represented Swiss craftwork.
