United States of America, Quarter Dollar 1964

The United States suffered heavily from the Great Depression, as the world economy crises of the 1930s was called in America. Yet in the year 1932, the 200th anniversary of George Washington had to be celebrated. The US Treasury planned to commemorate this occasion with all due reverence after all, Washington had been the first president of the United States. As such, he had been significantly involved in the creation of the American currency system. Hence in 1932, quarter-dollars with Washington's image were put into circulation.
