Kingdom of Denmark, Christian IX, 10 Kronor 1900

This coin shows the Danish king Christian IX (1863-1906) on the obverse and on the reverse the personification of the kingdom. Miss Denmark has her elbow on a shield, thus symbolizing readiness for defense. The dolphin at her feet stands for Denmark's naval power and the ear of corn for the fruitfulness of the land.
