Russian Empire, Alexander III, 1/2 Kopeck 1893

Unlike his father, Tsar Alexander III (1881-1894), under whose reign this half-kopeck was issued, was an opponent of every kind of reform. He hollowed out many of his father's improvements, or even withdrew them. The obverse of this coin shows Alexander's crowned monogram: the letter A with a III below. The reverse gives the denomination, the date, and the mintmark of St Petersburg.
