Russian Empire, Boris Godunov, Kopeck

Until the 18th century, the Russian monetary system was based on two small silver coins: The denga and the kopeck. Both coins bore the image of the grand duke on their obverse – on the kopeck he swung a spear, and on the denga, a sword. On the reverse the coins showed the title, but not the name of the tsar: Grand Duke and Ruler of all Russia.
