Republic of Italy, 50 Euro Cent 2002

The Italian 50-cent-coin depicts the Equestrian Statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, an ancient Roman statue. The statue is over life-size and was supposedly created about 156 AD. The statue was believed to be formerly clad in gold. Since 1990, the original is on display in the Palazzo Nuovo, with the one now standing in the open air of the Piazza del Campidoglio being a replica.
