Swiss Confederation, 5 Francs 1922

In 1919 the Swiss Federal Council launched a competition for a new image of the 5-francs coin. Three years later, the new dies were ready. They bore the bust of a dairyman and the Swiss crest on the reverse. Of these coins, 2.4 million five-franc coins were struck. Then it was decided to stop the minting and to revise the crest again, for the cross still did not suffice to heraldic standards.
