Laos, Kingdom of Luang Prabang, Lat Money worth 1 Tamlung or 4 Baht

From the 14th century on many kinds of coins circulated in the northern and eastern parts of Thailand. Many of them were merly little silver ingots. They occur in many shapes and sizes, however. Bars such as this one are called "lat money" (= "market money"). Among collectors they are known as "tiger-tongue coins."
